We had to be at the hospital at 7:00 a.m. This was actually good, since she couldn't eat or drink for 8 hours before the procedures.
She was all smiles in the registration area.
She wasn't too happy about getting her blood pressure checked.
Then she got changed into her gown. She was really hoping it would be pink, but it was green. :)
She was excited to get the surprise we had for her - a Princess Tiana Barbie (from Princess and the Frog).
She watched some of a movie with Josh while we were waiting.
She got bored with that, so she was checking out the action in the hallway.
HORRIBLE picture of me, but it was the only one I had of the two of us at the hospital, so I resisted deleting it... We were sharing the hospital bed and watching cartoons.
They gave her a mild sedative of some kind, which made her kind of tired and loopy. Then they took her back to the operating room. We couldn't go back with her. :( I only cried a little! We prayed for her, then we went back to the room to wait.
As I mentioned before, her teeth were in better shape than the dentist feared. She ended up with a few fillings on two teeth and sealants on the other two teeth. These should take care of her molars until her permanent teeth come in. And the dentist doesn't think there will be any problems with her permanent teeth, so that's good!
Recovery was the toughest part. They tried to prepare us for how "horrible" (nurse's word) it would be. Just a lot of confusion, crying, trying to get up when needing to sit still, etc. Overall, she seemed to do pretty well. But she was feeling pretty bad and was crying/upset for about 20-30 minutes. This was the only picture I got (the room was dark, so the quality is poor).
We left the hospital around 10 a.m. Evelyn got a little sick on the way home, but she started feeling better pretty soon. She spent some time on the couch, then she asked for cereal for lunch. She took a nap, and she's seemed like her old self since then! Here she is just a few minutes ago.
It was a little weird being at that hospital. The last time I was there, I gave birth to Amelia. And I'll probably be back within the next few weeks to have Simon! We're not sure how much Evelyn will remember from today and whether she'll want to come to the hospital to see her little brother.
It was really sweet. When we got home from the hospital, Evelyn was asking where AJ was (she's at daycare). She wanted us to go pick her up and bring her home, because she missed her. I love how much they love each other! I hope it lasts! :)
