Decorating!

I celebrated the New Year by ordering a new living room rug! I've had my eye on this one for a while, and I've been stalking overstock.com. They have had the rug in different colors/sizes, but not the one I was wanting. Well - a couple weeks ago, they finally got it in! And promptly sold out of it within a couple hours...just the time it took me to think about it. So when I got an email that they got more in stock, I jumped on it! This rug is currently for sale on ballarddesigns.com on sale for about $580 and is also available at costplusworldmarket.com for about $480. Overstock.com sold it for $299 with $1 shipping! :)

Now that my new rug is on the way, I have started planning the redecorating of my living room and dining room. I'm really excited, too, because I think I've figured out a way to pretty easily change things out from a spring/summer look to a fall/winter look.

Here are pics of the inspiration rooms I'm using (from Better Homes and Gardens):

The walls will be a goldish-khaki color - kind of the color of burlap, but lighter. It's hard to tell, but it is one of the colors in the fabric above.

The dining room chairs will be slipcovered (when I get around to it!!!) in a denim. There will be throw pillows in a green patterned fabric, similar to the one below. And the rug, of course. Those will all stay constant. I also already have a burlap tablecloth on a table in the living room, so I'm considering using burlap for the curtains in the dining room.

Here is the main spring/summer fabric that I will be using.

What really got me excited yesterday was that I figured out that I already have accessories that will work with the spring/summer look! I have a collection of Frankoma pottery that is currently packed up in a box in the attic. I used to have it on a tall, skinny shelf that I was afraid the girls would pull down on them. Well, I have enough to do a big installation over the couch with plates, vases on little shelves, etc. And it will be almost free!

Here is a google image I found of Frankoma:

Then here are a couple fabrics I found that I can switch out for a fall/winter look. The artwork and accessories I currently have will work with these fabrics, so no cost there. The rug, burlap, denim, and green fabric will all remain. I'll just switch out the lighter blue fabric for the warmer orange/green fabrics.

This is kind of what my couch looks like, just as a reminder.

I even already have a double curtain rod in a closet that I bought from Pottery Barn AGES ago and never installed. It will make it super easy to keep the neutral curtains on the rod in the back, then just change out a valance/topper kind of thing in the front with the accent fabrics!

Okay, I'm not sure if that interests anyone but me, but I'm excited! I need to get my mom to come down for a weekend to help me with the sewing. I know she'll be willing to make the throw pillows for me.
